    Supporting Small Businesses

    • Passed two pieces of legislation enabling local breweries and local distilleries to host events at their facilities. This allows for external events like weddings, benefiting Louisiana's small businesses financially. Local distilleries gain from sourcing ingredients locally, supporting the state's agriculture and fostering homegrown enterprises.

    Consumer Protection

    • Passed legislation obliging payment processing companies to refund payments if they don't reach their intended recipients, preventing entities like PayPal from wrongfully withholding funds and setting an important precedent. The law also curbs other online platforms like Venmo, Cashapp, etc. from arbitrarily retaining payments based on their content, safeguarding millions of dollars annually and ensuring fair treatment for transactions involving firearms or community fundraisers. This move has inspired other states to follow suit prompted by revelations brought forth by Rep. LaCombe's legislation.
  • Public Safety

    Juvenile Justice Reform

    • Passed major juvenile justice reform through House Bill 532, which streamlined the state's Office of Juvenile Justice, and mandated the transfer of adults from juvenile facilities to adult jails during trial preparation. This action also created more capacity within juvenile jails for the appropriate detention of juveniles.

    Supported Law Enforcement Officers

    • Maintained an A+ rating in public safety by the Louisiana Sheriff’s Association for four consecutive years.
    • Actively advocated for bolstering supplemental pay for law enforcement and first responders.
  • Healthcare

    Medical Marijuana

    • Passed legislation to shield medical marijuana users and healthcare facilities from prosecution.

    Enhanced Funding

    • In the past four years, enacted legislation to guarantee funding for patient treatment in rural hospitals, leading to enhanced profitability for these healthcare facilities. 
    • Endorsed by HOSPAC and various medical groups (2021 and 2022 Legislative Champion of Medicine Award from the Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians)

    Planning Commissions

    • Passed legislation to support the Addis Planning Commission members and allow for them to be compensated for their strategic planning efforts. 

    Justices of the Peace

    • Enacted legislation that decreased the count of justices of the peace and constables from 12 to eight in Pointe Coupee Parish, aligning their jurisdiction with the eight parish council districts.

    Rural Water Systems

    • Passed legislation to enable small water, sewer and natural gas systems to more easily get funding from capital outlay.

    Water Bills

    • Enacted legislation amending the Louisiana Constitution, granting local governments the authority to waive water charges in cases where the charges stem from water loss due to infrastructure damage, provided the damage is not attributed to any action or inaction by the customer.

    Bridge Over The Mississippi 

    • Through co-authored legislation, played a crucial role in securing Louisiana's largest infrastructure investment in thirty years, leading to substantial enhancements in roads, bridges, ports, and water systems, all without imposing new taxes on our citizens.
    • Played a significant role in securing over $300 million for a new Mississippi River Bridge, as well as enhancements to LA 1 and LA 30. These funds will propel the project, alleviate traffic, and invigorate the local economy, all achieved without tax increases.

    • Passed legislation that secured a total of $800 million in funding for water sector projects, which are currently being utilized to construct vital water systems and sewer repairs as part of the committee's efforts.

    Reemployment of Civil Servants

    School Board Purchasing

    • Passed legislation to allow school boards to purchase educational materials through a group purchasing organization if the materials, equipment, or supplies are not under state contract or on the state bid list.

    Funding

    • Supported historic investments in early childhood education, raised literacy standards, implemented dyslexia testing protocols in schools.
    • Supported legislation to end life-altering gender surgeries for minors, and voted multiple times to protect women in sports.
    • Advocated for a total of $5,300 in pay raises and stipends for K-12 teachers and $2,650 for support staff in an effort to recruit and retain the best teachers for our students.
